Meeniyan Garlic Festival bolstered by Visit Victoria Regional Events Fund
David Jones part of the organising committee with the Meeniyan Garlic Festival 2019 is thrilled to announce that the Meeniyan Garlic Festival has been successful in securing a grant from Visit Victoria’s Regional Event Fund. The grant funding will enable the Festival to deliver online, social and PR messages to encourage overnight visitation. Visitors will be encouraged to use the Festival as a stepping stone to explore the food and beverage, arts and village experiences in the Gippsland region – promoting dispersal and visitor spend.
David also noted that a major re-development of the website in 2018 provided a platform to showcase the assets and offerings in the Meeniyan area. With the added funding the festival will be able to expand and add individual promotion of Gippsland based producers, providores, artists, winemakers as well as showcasing ‘satellite’ events which highlight regional tourism offerings in the area.
Part of the funding will assist in expanding a social media campaign with all things related to the festival and garlic highlighting its applications and attributes. There will be a re-launch of the #Go Aussie Garlic campaign with high profile chefs sharing garlic stories and recipes. Garlic and the Gippsland region will be at the heart of the story with things to learn about garlic bulbing, harvesting and curing.
