Gippsland wins gold at the VTA
The spotlight was on Victoria’s leading tourism businesses at the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards’ gala ceremony at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday November 16. Now in their 31st year, the awards recognise excellence in the industry and assist in the ongoing quest for exceptional tourism and event offerings in Victoria. This year was the first year Victoria Tourism Industry Council ran the event. Winners across 33 categories were announced including Gippsland’s own Jetty Road Retreat and the Phillip Island and Bass Coast Visitor Information Centre Network.
Jetty Road Retreat owned by Steve and Kim Kleinitz, who provide self contained accommodation amidst bush land sanctuary on the Gippsland Lakes in Nungurner, received the Standard Accommodation Award for the second year in a row. Visit their website at: www.jettyroadretreat.com.au

Monday night’s winners have been identified as the outstanding tourism businesses in their particular category and are automatic finalists in the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, gaining further recognition for excellence in the industry on a national scale.
The awareness generated by these awards highlights the professionalism of businesses and allows winners to expand their profile, review marketing and promotion activities and expand industry networks and affiliations.
The recognition and rewarding of quality and innovative businesses, ensures that tourism operators continue to improve their service offering to compete with national and international businesses.
We would like to congratulate Jetty Road Retreat and Phillip Island and Bass Coast Visitor Information Centre Network on their fantastic achievement.
